Remember These Lessons from 2020

As we come to the end of 2020 and peer over the threshold to 2021, I hear a number of people saying they're ready to be done with 2020. This NPR piece struck a chord about what is worth remembering from 2020. The beautiful artwork by Tyler Jones in collaboration with Equal Justice Initiative is insightful. The fact that they filmed in a church that refused to allow Black people in the 1960s during the Civil Rights movement was powerful. The oldest member, Eloise Ford Gaffney, was a Civil Rights' activist who fought for voting rights. The youngest, Jaxon Moore, is a leader now who is the same age (11) as Denise McNair, the youngest victim of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in 1963.

I have so much to learn about white body supremacy, about justice and repentance, and about love that lasts and lasts. I invite you to be open to this short film and the NPR message. I want to remember this from 2020 and carry momentum into 2021.
